Yungblud - Weird!

"It's a story of coming-of-age and self-acceptance and liberation, in terms of sex and gender and drugs and heartbreak and all the other twists and turns we go through in life," Yungblud has said of his second album, likening it to a Skins episode in album form. Released in December 2020 through Locomotion and Interscope Records, weird! is Yungblud's most emotionally direct record to date, trading some of the shock-rock bravado of his debut for open-hearted, hook-driven songwriting.

"Mars," "weird!," and "It's Quiet in Beverly Hills" find Dominic Harrison working through isolation and mental health with a more melodic touch than his earlier material, prioritizing vulnerability over provocation without losing the anthemic energy that made him a breakout artist. As he put it himself, the goal was to make people feel like it's okay to feel out of place: "life is weird, but that's what's beautiful about it. So don't ever try to live it as someone else. Live it as you."

That message clearly connected. weird! debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, selling 39,000 units in its first week and marking Yungblud's first chart-topping album, a genuine commercial validation of his shift toward more personal songwriting.
