Following their acclaimed 2020 release Sun Racket, Throwing Muses return with Moonlight Concessions, a deeply personal and off-kilter collection showcasing the band’s signature mix of tender lyricism and abrasive musicality. Produced by Kristin Hersh at Steve Rizzo’s Stable Sound Studio in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, the album is a series of snapshots from everyday life—overheard conversations, vignettes, and telling one-liners—woven together to capture moments of reflection, growth, and subtle humor.

Tracks like “Drugstore Drastic” feature brisk acoustic strums underpinned by delicate guitar sub-melodies, unfolding into socially aware tales drawn from the subconscious. “Summer of Love” opens the album with a haunting baroque overture, while “Libretto” pairs strings with acoustic ambiance to convey longing and warmth in equal measure.
