The Traveling Wilburys - The Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 3 (LP / Picture Disc)
The Wilburys' second and final album arrived in 1990 with a typically sly title, skipping right past Vol. 2. Recorded after the death of Roy Orbison, it found George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne regrouping as a four-piece, each with a new Wilbury alias: Spike, Boo, Muddy and Clayton.
The spirit is as loose and good-humored as ever. "She's My Baby" rocks harder than anything on the debut, with guest lead guitar from Gary Moore, while "Inside Out" and "If You Belonged to Me" show off the group's knack for wry, rolling folk rock. "Wilbury Twist" closes the record with a tongue-in-cheek dance craze of its own invention.
Vol. 3 climbed to No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, a fitting farewell from rock's most famous supergroup.
Pressed as a limited picture disc exclusively for RSD Black Friday, limited to 2,500 copies.
