The Messthetics - Messthetics

The self-titled debut from The Messthetics introduces a fierce, stripped-down instrumental trio operating on instinct, interplay, and momentum. Recorded throughout 2017 at Brendan Canty’s practice space, the album’s nine tracks were captured live and mostly without overdubs, preserving the immediacy and spontaneity of the performances.

Built on propulsive drums, elastic bass lines, and jagged guitar interplay, The Messthetics channels the spirit of punk, jazz, and dub without settling into any one lane. The result is a restless, forward-moving record that thrives on feel rather than polish, showcasing a band locked into each other and letting the music breathe in real time.
