A brutalist, rhythmic fuzz descent into the pre-apocalypse.
Recorded over three intense days in Bristol while the band rehearsed for live dates with their peers in Mudhoney, Your Pretty Place Is Going To Hell is the definitive, high-contrast statement from The Heads. Initially conceived as two separate volumes, the material demanded the expansive space of a double LP to capture the full trajectory of the band’s heavy, psychedelic assault. With guitars, drums, and bass laid down live and later fine-tuned by John McBain (Monster Magnet, Wellwater Conspiracy) in Portland, the album is a "hand-crafted" masterclass in sonic over-saturation.
Naming the record in a nod to the Stooges’ Raw Power classic, The Heads prove they haven't mellowed with age. The "pummel" is omnipresent, shifting from "wigged out" guitar solos that could peel paint to spaced-out "sike zones" and even the occasional, buried pop hook. It is a "three chords, twenty years" mantra pushed to its absolute limit—a heavy sonic blender that processes the DNA of Hawkwind, Loop, and Spacemen 3 into a singular, rhythmic fuzz experience.
