Forty-odd years into the band's existence, this is the first live album Tears for Fears have ever released. Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith recorded it at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee on July 11, 2023, midway through the Tipping Point World Tour, and the title nods deliberately at Songs from the Big Chair while pointing the anxiety outward instead of inward.
The setlist reaches across every era. "Shout," "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," "Head Over Heels," and "Mad World" are all here, alongside deeper material stretching from The Hurting through Seeds of Love and up to The Tipping Point, eighteen live tracks in total. What comes through is how well these songs hold up played by a band with nothing left to prove, and how much of the Big Chair material was always built for a room this size.
Four new studio recordings open the album, including "Say Goodbye to Mum and Dad," "Emily Said," "Astronaut," and "The Girl That I Call Home." They are not filler. They sit comfortably next to the catalog, which after a reunion, a long silence, and a genuinely strong 2022 comeback record says something about where Orzabal and Smith are as writers right now.
A concert film shot at the same show premiered in over 1,100 cinemas in October 2024.
This deluxe 2CD edition collects the four new studio tracks and the full live set across two discs. The most complete document of one of the great British pop bands playing at full strength.
