One of the most thrilling debut albums of the modern era. Innerspeaker announced Kevin Parker and Tame Impala to the world in 2010 as something genuinely new — a rainbow sandstorm of stoned riffage, mind-bending melody, and blissed-out adventurism that echoed the lighter side of Cream, Blue Cheer, and Kyuss while sounding utterly and completely their own.
Recorded and produced by Parker himself in an enormous mansion overlooking 180 degrees of the Indian Ocean, with Death in Vegas's Tim Holmes on engineering duties, the album is an explosive, cosmic wonderland of ecstatic harmony and perfectly accessible journeys into inner space. It was then mixed in upstate New York by renowned sonic maverick Dave Fridmann, the man behind landmark records from MGMT and The Flaming Lips, whose touch gives the whole record a warm, immersive depth that pulls you in and refuses to let go.
Lead single "Solitude Is Bliss" offered the first glimpse of what Parker had created, a joyous, honeyed romp that hinted at the amorphous cosmos waiting inside. From there, Innerspeaker unfolds as one of psychedelic rock's great modern statements, an album that sounds as alive and transportive today as it did the moment it arrived.
