St. Vincent - Actor

Actor showcases Brooklyn’s St. Vincent collaborating with a talented group of musicians, including Hideaki Aomori from Sufjan Stevens, Alex Sopp who has worked with Bjork, and Midlake’s rhythm section, McKenzie Smith and Paul Alexander. Co-produced by John Congleton (known for his work with Modest Mouse and Polyphonic Spree), the album features eleven new songs written and arranged by Annie Clark. Building on the ambitious sounds and compositions of her debut album Marry Me, Actor takes everything to the next level with more intricate arrangements, bolder songwriting, and confident, inspired performances.

Known for her creativity and musical skill, St. Vincent shines as both a stunning vocalist and a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, and keyboards throughout the album. Interestingly, each song started as a secret film score inspired by Annie’s favorite movies like Badlands, Pierrot le Fou, The Wizard of Oz, Stardust Memories, and Sleeping Beauty, before evolving into fully realized songs. The result is a rich and imaginative record that highlights Clark’s unique artistic vision.
