Few debut albums have captured a moment quite like Pocket Full Of Kryptonite. Originally released in August 1991, the Spin Doctors' first record took its time finding its audience before exploding into one of the defining albums of the early 1990s, eventually climbing to number three on the Billboard 200 and achieving five-times platinum certification from the RIAA. From a New York City bar band to one of the most recognizable acts on the planet, the ride was as unlikely as it was thrilling.
The album's Superman-inspired identity runs through everything, from the opening "Jimmy Olsen's Blues," whose title provides the album's name, to the phone booth gracing the cover, a nod to Clark Kent's most famous quick-change routine. The hits are among the most beloved of the era. "Two Princes," Grammy nominated and peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, remains one of the most irresistible guitar-pop songs of its decade. "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" followed it to number 17 and has never left classic rock radio since. The album also features a guest appearance from John Popper, founding member of Blues Traveler, adding harmonica to the mix and deepening the record's roots-rock credentials.
This limited 35th anniversary edition, pressed on translucent green 180-gram audiophile vinyl and individually numbered out of 4,000 copies, is housed in a deluxe heavyweight sleeve with leather-texture laminate finish and includes an insert. To mark the occasion, Spin Doctors will be on an extensive tour throughout 2026. One of the great feel-good albums of the 1990s, presented as beautifully as it deserves.
