Rainbow - Rarities 75-76 (2LP / Red & Yellow Vinyl)
In 1975 Ritchie Blackmore walked away from Deep Purple and formed Rainbow with singer Ronnie James Dio. Over the next two years the band made Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and Rising, two cornerstones of hard rock and heavy metal. Rarities 75-76 is the final vinyl release in Edsel's 50th anniversary look back at those defining early years.
More than half of these tracks have never been on vinyl before. There are rough mixes of "Tarot Woman," "Run With The Wolf," "Starstruck," "Do You Close Your Eyes," "Stargazer" and "A Light In The Black," mono and stereo edits of "Man On The Silver Mountain" and "Starstruck," a Bolivian mono mix of "Temple Of The King" and a "Stargazer" taken from the band's tour rehearsals.
For anyone who knows Rising by heart, hearing these songs before the final polish is a real treat, with Dio's voice and Blackmore's guitar right up front. Everything has been newly mastered by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham.
Housed in a gatefold jacket with one red and one yellow LP, limited to 2,200 copies for RSD Black Friday.
