Released on Christmas Day 2020, Whole Lotta Red is Playboi Carti's second studio album and his most polarizing statement. Debuting at number one on the Billboard 200, it traded the melodic trap of his earlier work for an abrasive, punk-tinged rage sound built around a vampire-rockstar persona.

The album is loose and frenetic, favoring chants and ad-libs over conventional song structure, with Kanye West lending creative guidance behind the scenes.
