Originally released in 1988, Meta is the sophomore masterpiece from the German darkwave pioneers Pink Turns Blue. Following their debut If Two Worlds Kiss, the band underwent a transformation, influenced by a "vibrant Ljubljana music scene" and a "study of sound." Recorded in a basement studio in Yugoslavia under the guidance of producer Jané Krizaj, the album captures a "beautiful confusion" of exploring the unfamiliar. With an intensity often compared to Joy Division's Closer, Meta is a cohesive meditation on how melody and atmosphere can "traverse space" to create a larger, darker narrative.
This Dais Records reissue marks the first time the album has returned to its original vinyl format since 1988. Remastered to highlight its "evolved sonic identity," the release "flexes the songwriting muscle" of a band that helped shape the very vocabulary of deathrock and darkwave. Packaged in a 24 pt reverse board jacket with a lyric inner sleeve, this edition is a "proud presentation" of an underground classic that continues to inspire fans looking for "melody and meaning" below the surface.
