Concluding the legendary "Candlelight era" trilogy, My Arms, Your Hearse is the 1998 masterpiece that solidified Opeth’s place among the best bands on the planet. Departing from the sprawling structures of Orchid and Morningrise, this album is a tightly woven conceptual piece where each track blends seamlessly into the next, creating the effect of a continuous, hour-long "suite." From the "visceral aggression" of "Demon of the Fall" to the "heart-wrenching" beauty of "Credence," the album explores themes of mortality and spiritual lingering with an intensity that made it a top contender for album of the year upon its release.
This 2LP vinyl reissue has been meticulously remastered by Jens Bogren with direct guidance from Mikael Åkerfeldt. Cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell, the pressing allows the "thunderous drums" and "spectral acoustic passages" to breathe with unprecedented clarity. The artwork has been "faithfully restored" by Dan Capp, presenting the record exactly as the band originally intended, complete with an OBI strip and heavyweight gatefold packaging.
