Three albums in and Olivia Rodrigo is operating at a level very few artists her age have ever reached. Released June 12, 2026 and produced once again by longtime collaborator Dan Nigro, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love is her most ambitious and sonically adventurous record yet, a 13-track journey through the full arc of a relationship from breathless beginning to bruised ending.
The album's structure is as deliberate as its title. Split into two sides styled after a vinyl or cassette tape, the first six tracks on the "Girl So in Love" side are anxiety-filled love songs, while the seven tracks on the "You Seem Pretty Sad" side are the bruised, clear-eyed aftermath. Together they paint a complete and unflinching portrait of romance in dissolution, told with the emotional precision and melodic instinct that has made Rodrigo one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation.
Sonically the album draws deep from The Cure and the New Wave of the 1980s, with synths and instrumentation that recall both the era's grandeur and its ache. Lead single "Drop Dead" arrives on a rush of synth-pop urgency, while second single "The Cure" boasts a guitar riff that pays unmistakable homage to "Everlong" alongside strings worthy of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The album's most stunning moment may be "What's Wrong With Me," a duet with The Cure's Robert Smith himself, a collaboration that feels both completely natural and genuinely extraordinary. Standout "Cigarette Smoke" delivers one of Rodrigo's strongest vocal performances to date.
Available on black vinyl. The Unraveled world tour follows this fall across 65 dates in North America and Europe.
