Nourished by Time - The Passionate Ones

The Passionate Ones is Marcus Brown's second album as Nourished by Time and his first full-length for XL Recordings. Released in 2025 and written, produced, and performed entirely by Brown, it was crafted between Baltimore, London, and New York. He calls it a sermon: a twelve-track reckoning with love, labor, and the promises of the American Dream.

Brown draws on Baltimore's tangled musical heritage, where jazz, punk, indie, hip hop, and R&B blur together. "Max Potential," "9 2 5," and "Baby Baby" pair aching soul melodies with restless production, sampling the likes of Labi Siffre while Brown's voice cuts through with real urgency. It is warmer and more expansive than his debut without losing the handmade edge that made him stand out.
