Nourished by Time - Erotic Probiotic 2

Erotic Probiotic 2 is the record that made Marcus Brown a name to know. Working alone as Nourished by Time, he wrote, played, and produced the whole album in his parents' Baltimore basement between 2021 and 2022. First issued on the small London label Scenic Route in 2023 and now reissued by XL Recordings, it became one of the most talked-about debuts of its year.

The sound is a warm collision of 1980s freestyle, bedroom pop, and alternative R&B, built from drum machines, synths, and Brown's raw, unguarded voice. "Daddy" and "Shed That Fear" turn heartbreak into hooks, while "Unbreak My Love" and "Rain Water Promise" trace the slow end of a formative relationship. It sounds handmade and enormous at once.

Pitchfork named it Best New Music and later placed it among the best albums of the 2020s so far. This XL pressing brings a modern cult classic to a wider audience. Vulnerable, grooving, and completely singular.
