Natalie Brooke - Measured In Moments [Blue]

Natalie Brooke spent most of her life being the quiet one. Classically trained on piano, she took her first voice lessons at 25 and told nobody she was doing it. Learning to be loud, in her words, turned into one of her biggest strengths. Measured in Moments, released independently in October 2025, is what that hard-won confidence sounds like at full volume: eleven tracks of modern jazz-fusion built by a Maryland pianist, singer, and bandleader who now plays a keytar she bought on a whim.

The album takes on time, nostalgia, and the fleeting shape of a human life without ever getting precious about it. "Sometimes," featuring guitarist Cris Jacobs, rides a soulful groove into a jazz-soaked breakdown and a fiery organ solo before Jacobs answers back. "Hands" is urgent and staccato, tension coiling into a chorus made for a dancefloor. "Stupid Head" goes full cosmic prog odyssey and somehow stays completely listenable, and "Water for People" pivots into shimmering harmonies and a soaring guitar finale. Brooke's love of grit and volume came from years at metal shows, and it shows in how hard the band pushes when it decides to.

Recorded at Mystery Ton Studios in early 2025 and produced, mixed, and mastered by Kenny Eaton, the record moves with the looseness of a live band and the detail of something genuinely fussed over. It is the sound of an artist who stopped holding back.
