Aurora Central Records is proud to present, for the first time ever on vinyl, Allstå Finns Jag by Maxcolic—the short-lived but electrifying trio featuring legendary saxophonist Mats Gustafsson, guitarist Christian Lindsjö, and drummer Raymond Strid. Originally recorded in 1990 in the Stockholm rehearsal space shared with GUSH and “Ett minne för livet,” this long-lost EP captures the raw, urgent energy of a band that burned fast and bright.
Formed after Gustafsson and Lindsjö reunited in Stockholm—following early collaborations in the mid-’80s New York-based Bad Quartet—Maxcolic fused free improvisation with no-wave, funk, punk, and jagged poetry-driven performance. With an in-your-face sound inspired by Ornette Coleman, James Blood Ulmer, Bern Nix, Tony Oxley, and a good dose of Scandinavian absurdism, Allstå Finns Jag swings, shouts, and shreds in its own unruly tradition.
Originally bolstered by contributions from artists like David Moss and Edward Jarvis, Maxcolic carved out a defiantly experimental space in Sweden’s avant-garde scene. This long-overdue vinyl release is limited to just 200 copies worldwide. A crucial archival document of outsider jazz energy, now finally available for the first time.
