Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards started with a suggestion from Tim Armstrong. Lars's bandmate in Rancid told him to write songs about growing up in Campbell, California, and the result was this self-titled 2001 album, a record that Rancid fans have treated as a classic ever since.
It is a street punk record with real stories in it. "Dead American," "Army Of Zombies" and "Campbell, CA" sit alongside "Anti-Social," "10 Plagues Of Egypt" and "Vietnam," and the band also takes on two covers: Billy Bragg's "To Have And To Have Not" and the Holland-Dozier-Holland song "Leavin' Here," which Motörhead also famously recorded.
The album spent years out of print and became genuinely hard to find before Pirates Press brought it back, and it remains essential listening for anyone who loves the Hellcat era of West Coast punk.
This 25th anniversary edition is pressed on fog marble vinyl.
