Kylie Minogue - Kylie Christmas

If anyone was born to make a Christmas record, it is Kylie Minogue. Her 2015 holiday album brings the same glossy, playful pop instincts that have powered her career for decades, and it treats the season as one long, glittering party.

The standards get the full disco-ball treatment: "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and "Winter Wonderland" bounce with big-band brass and dancefloor energy, while "Let It Snow" and "Santa Baby" play up her flirtatious side. The guest spots are inspired: Iggy Pop turns up for a cheeky run through the Waitresses' new wave classic "Christmas Wrapping," and James Corden joins her on Yazoo's "Only You." Originals like "Every Day's Like Christmas" and "White December" show she can write a seasonal song as well as sing one, and her take on the Pretenders' "2000 Miles" adds a touch of wistfulness.

It is fun, unpretentious and unmistakably Kylie: a holiday album that is as happy on the dancefloor as it is under the tree.

This Parlophone reissue presents the thirteen-track album on vinyl.
