Kontravoid - Detachment [CD]

Kontravoid is the masked Toronto project of Cameron Findlay, and Detachment, released in 2024 on Artoffact Records, is where his cold, club-ready darkwave hit its hardest. It is a record built for dark rooms and strobe lights, pairing driving EBM rhythms with brooding synthpop melodies.

The ten tracks move from the tense opener "Awaken" through "Losing Game," "Reckoning" and "Death Shot," each one stacked with icy analog synths, heavy basslines and Findlay's detached, echoing vocals. "Sin Walker" and "In Reverse" lean further into the dancefloor, while the title track closes the album on a slower, more haunting note.

It set the stage for the upcoming follow-up Sound of the Void and remains a strong entry point for fans of Boy Harsher, Drab Majesty and modern coldwave.
