Don’t let the title throw you off. It’s not meant to be funny or ironic—it’s meant as is: a frank statement of fact. Of course, you're welcome to interpret it however you'd like.
This is Kaia Wilson’s fifth solo album, and it showcases her most mature songwriting to date. The production—handled with care by Seth Lorinczi (The Corin Tucker Band, Golden Bears) and Rob Jones (Jealous Butcher Records)—is incredibly thoughtful and intentionally unpolished. These recordings are anything but slick (read: sterile or overly perfected); they were made slowly, one track at a time, in various settings including kitchens, basements, bedrooms, and studios.
Each song was treated as its own unique creature, never straying from the natural direction of the composition. The result is an album where each track stands out on its own, yet there's a deep, organic cohesion running throughout—each song’s heart nourished by the arteries of its engineering and production.
The album features guest musicians Jody Bleyle and Marci Martinez (Team Dresch) on bass and drums, Amanda Lawrence (Norfolk and Western) on viola and cello, and Seth Lorinczi on organ and castanets (!).
