Joey Valence & Brae - No Hands [Boom Bada Blue]

Joey Valence and Brae started out as two kids from State College, Pennsylvania making Beastie Boys pastiche in a bedroom and posting it online. By No Hands, released in September 2024, they had turned the joke into an actual band — louder, weirder and considerably more skilled than the shtick that got them noticed.

The record runs on breakbeats, blown-out 808s and two voices trading bars at maximum volume. "Bussit" kicks the door in, "Packapunch" brings Danny Brown along for one of the most gleefully unhinged guest verses of the year, and the title track hands the reins to turntablist Z-Trip for a genuine old-school workout. "Like a Punk" and "Where U From" push the hardcore-adjacent edges, while "The Baddest," "John Cena" and "Omnitrix" close things out on pure adrenaline and internet-brained humor.

The note printed inside says everything: every song here was written and recorded in a bedroom. It shows in the best way — the record has the ragged, homemade energy of people making exactly what they want with nobody looking over their shoulder.

This is the limited "Boom Bada Blue" pressing, blue vinyl with sparkles in a gatefold sleeve, self-released via JVB Records and pressed by GZ Media. A loud, funny, genuinely fun record.
