Evanescence - Sanctuary [Indie Exclusive]

Five years after The Bitter Truth, Amy Lee returns with the sixth Evanescence album and the loudest argument yet that this band never needed the nu-metal moment it got lumped in with. Sanctuary arrived in 2026 on BMG carrying "Afterlife," written for the Netflix series Devil May Cry, which became the fastest-rising single of the band's career and put them back in front of an audience that was not born when "Bring Me to Life" was inescapable.

The record splits its production between Zakk Cervini and Jordan Fish, who bring a modern, brittle edge to "Who Will You Follow" and "Tell Me When You've Had Enough," and longtime collaborator Nick Raskulinecz, who handles the heavier, orchestral end on "Beautiful Lie" and "Forever Without You," the latter co-written with Skylar Grey. Emma Anzai holds down bass, Troy McLawhorn and Tim McCord handle guitars, and Lee's string arrangements sit underneath everything without ever tipping into pastiche. Ted Jensen mastered.

It is a heavy, unhurried album about grief and self-preservation, and it does not flinch.
