Earth Crisis have never made music for the faint of heart, and Neutralize The Threat is no exception. Originally released in 2011, the album stands as one of the most focused and ferocious statements in the catalog of one of metallic hardcore's most genuinely influential bands. Formed in Syracuse, New York in 1989 and responsible for inspiring an entire generation of heavy bands including Hatebreed and Terror, Earth Crisis returned from their 2008 reunion with 2009's To The Death and proved they still had everything it takes. Then they made this.
From the blistering opener "Raise" through the pulverizing title track and mosh-igniting anthems "Total War" and the groove-driven "Askari," Neutralize The Threat delivers crossover-thrash fueled metallic hardcore at its most methodical and merciless. Guitarists Scott Crouse and Erick Edwards unleash wave after wave of jagged, crushing riffwork, while drummer Dennis Merrick and bassist Ian Edwards provide the relentless percussive backbone that makes every track feel like a physical event. Karl Buechner's commanding vocal presence cuts through all of it with the authority of a man who has been one of the most recognizable voices in hardcore for over three decades and shows absolutely no sign of slowing down.
This is not a record that reinvents anything. It reinforces it with steel. Direct, punishing, and built for stage domination and pit movement, Neutralize The Threat silenced doubters and reaffirmed Earth Crisis as a defining force in heavy music. Fifteen years on it hits just as hard.
This 15th anniversary edition has been remastered specifically for vinyl by guitarist Scott Crouse and pressed on Orange Crush vinyl, strictly limited to 300 units worldwide. Hardcore history, properly honored.
