Released in 2026, Doublespeak is the self-titled debut from a new synth-pop supergroup uniting Vince Clarke of Erasure, Neil Arthur of Blancmange, and analogue-synth auteur Benge. It reimagines eleven songs spanning four decades entirely through gleaming vintage electronics.
Rather than a nostalgia exercise, the record is a deep-crate covers project. It runs from post-punk touchstones like Fad Gadget's "Back to Nature," The Sound's "I Can't Escape Myself," and Young Marble Giants' "Brand New Life" to pop monuments such as ABBA's "The Visitors" and the Carpenters' "Goodbye to Love," alongside later cult gems from The Magnetic Fields and Ed Dowie. Clarke and Arthur trade lead vocals over Benge's warm modular arrangements.
Pressed on 140-gram black vinyl via London Records.
