Dolly Parton - A Holly Dolly Christmas [Opaque Red]

Thirty years after her last solo Christmas record, Dolly Parton came back to the holidays in 2020 with A Holly Dolly Christmas, and she brought the whole family along. It is a big-hearted, star-studded album that sounds exactly like a Dolly Christmas special should: warm, funny, faith-filled and full of guests.

The duets are the headline. Michael Bublé joins her on the swinging "Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas," goddaughter Miley Cyrus shares the title track "Christmas Is," Billy Ray Cyrus turns up on "Christmas Where We Are," Willie Nelson lends his weathered voice to "Pretty Paper," and Jimmy Fallon goes all in on "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Dolly's own writing shines on "Christmas on the Square," "Circle of Love" and "Comin' Home for Christmas," and the closing "Mary, Did You Know?" brings the record to a reverent finish.

Few artists can move from novelty to gospel without missing a beat, but Dolly makes it look effortless, and this album has become a fixture of her late-career renaissance.

This Butterfly Records LP presents the twelve-track album on opaque red vinyl.
