Charley Crockett - Clovis [Indie Exclusive]

Few country records have had a stranger journey to the shelf. Charley Crockett released Clovis in the spring of 2026, only to watch it pulled from streaming services a week later amid a dispute with his former label. He sold copies by hand at CMA Fest and his own shows until the album found a new home at Atlantic Outpost and came back for good.

The music was worth the fight. Crockett and his band cut Clovis over six days at Norman Petty Recording Studios in Clovis, New Mexico, the room where Buddy Holly made history, with Shooter Jennings producing for the fourth time. They did it while the whole crew, Jennings included, was sick with COVID, and the record has the loose, lived-in feel of a band pushing through. "The Hallelujah Trail," the title track, and "Waylon Rides Again" ride the line between Western storytelling and outlaw grit, and a take on Johnny Cash's "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" fits right in.

It is Crockett's seventeenth studio album and a return to the independent spirit that built his following, fourteen songs and nearly an hour of music from one of the most prolific voices in modern country.
