Beck - Ride Lonesome [Indie Exclusive, Vintage Green]

Beck has not put out an album of new songs since Hyperspace in 2019. For Ride Lonesome he went back to the room that produced his most durable work, reassembling the group that played on Sea Change, Mutations, and Morning Phase: Smokey Hormel, Joey Waronker, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner. Nigel Godrich, who mixed the first two of those records, mixed all twelve songs here. Beck has said the chemistry deepened across the decade since Morning Phase, and the album sounds like it.

This is the quiet, cinematic Beck rather than the funk collagist. "In The Night" is built from nylon-string fingerpicking and upright bass before a lush orchestral arrangement rises underneath it and then falls away, leaving the guitar alone. The title track arrived first, in April 2026, and returned in June as a duet with Sierra Ferrell. Across the rest of the record, from "Slow Canyon" through "If You Don't Know What Love Is" to the closing "Beyond The Light," the arrangements stay patient and unhurried, with more space in them than anything he has released in years.

Beck produced it himself, and at twelve tracks it is the most focused thing he has made since Morning Phase took Album of the Year at the 2015 Grammys. A covers and rarities collection, Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime, arrived in February 2026, but this is the real return. A North American tour follows in September.
