A new and previously unheard 12" from Aphex Twin. As some had anticipated, and hot on the heels of Syro, comes the nattily titled Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt 2, delivered in all its blacked-out, minimal glory. It kicks off with the spy-movie funk of “diskhat ALL prepared1mixed,” and as the title suggests, this is Aphex Twin like you’ve never quite heard before.

Richard D. James gets his hands on some seriously good drums and a wide array of physical instruments to create thirteen tracks of sublime Aphexness, exploring sonic territories with a level of detail he's rarely delved into before. Drum rolls, bells, pianos, and all manner of percussion are manipulated and retuned to wonderful effect.

It still unmistakably sounds like Aphex Twin—but once again, he raises the bar to dizzying new heights.
