Released in 1992, Dirt is the darkest and most fully realized album Alice In Chains ever made, and one of the defining records of the Seattle era. Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell never sounded more locked together, their harmonies twisting around riffs as heavy as anything in metal and as hooky as anything on rock radio.
The singles alone would make a career. "Them Bones" opens the album in a lurching, odd-metered rush, "Rooster" is Cantrell's haunting tribute to his Vietnam veteran father, "Down In A Hole" is one of the most devastating ballads of the decade, and "Would?" became a signature song after its appearance on the Singles soundtrack. Much of the record confronts addiction head-on, with an unflinching honesty that still lands hard more than thirty years later.
Dirt went on to multi-platinum sales and is regularly ranked among the greatest heavy rock albums ever made, a cornerstone for anyone collecting nineties rock.
This 30th anniversary edition presents the remastered album across two LPs for the first time, pressed on limited opaque yellow vinyl with a lyrics insert.
