Yeat spent 2021 as an internet rumor, a voice buried under Auto-Tune and cowbell that people either found unlistenable or could not stop playing. 2 Alivë settled the argument. Released in February 2022, it debuted at number six on the Billboard 200, his first top ten, and turned a set of deliberately alien production choices into one of the defining rap sounds of the decade.

The formula is simple and completely inimitable. Bells and 808s in cavernous space, synths that sound like they were recorded underwater, and Yeat's melodic mumble drifting over the top in a private slang no one else was using yet. "Poppin," "Sorry Bout That," and "Gët Busy" all went viral on their own terms, while "Still Countin" gave the record its lead single. Young Thug turns up on "Outsidë," Gunna rides the bell hook on "Rackz Got Më," and Ken Car$on and Yung Kayo hold down the underground contingent. Producers including F1lthy, Synthetic, Supah Mario, and Bugz Ronin build beats that feel less like songs than like weather systems.

The Geëk Pack deluxe arrived that April with nine additional tracks, pushing the runtime to eighty-eight minutes and adding Lil Uzi Vert on "Big Tonka" and Lancey Foux on "Luv Monëy." It is the complete version of the record, and the one worth owning.
