White Lung - Premonition [Indie Exclusive]

Premonition was six years in the making and turned out to be a farewell. White Lung recorded their fifth album while Mish Way was pregnant, and by the time Domino released it in December 2022 the band had already announced it would be their last. Knowing that changes how the whole thing lands.

Musically it is the most expansive record they made. The tempos still run hot on "Hysteric" and "Date Night," but Kenneth William's guitar work has more air around it, and songs like "Tomorrow" and "Under Glass" lean into melody in a way the early records never allowed. Way's lyrics circle motherhood, mortality, and what gets handed down, and the closing "Winter" is the longest and most unguarded song in the catalog. Jesse Gander produced and mixed, as he had for the previous two albums.

It is a rare thing, a band ending on their strongest and most complete record rather than trailing off. A proper last word.

This indie-exclusive edition is pressed on orange crush vinyl via Domino. A fitting pressing for a final album, and one worth grabbing while the exclusive lasts.
