VNV Nation - Construct

Two years after Electric Sun, VNV Nation returns with Construct, their twelfth studio album and the first half of the most ambitious project of their thirty-plus-year career: a companion pair of full-lengths, with Destruct following later the same year. Recorded at the band's own studio in Hamburg between May 2024 and January 2025, the ten tracks here lean into the analog-leaning synth work that's defined VNV's sound since the start, favoring arpeggios and pads over the club-ready supersaws of their earlier records.

Across songs like "Station 21," "By Your Side," and "Silence Speaks," the album's three singles, Ronan Harris and Mark Jackson dig into catchy, emotionally direct songwriting that critics have called some of the band's most affecting work to date, full of melodic hooks and lyrics rooted in belief and resilience. Opener "Hymn" sets the tone before the record moves through "The Spaces Between," "Nothing More," "Save Me," and "Close to Heaven," closing out on "On Other Oceans." It's a quieter, more restrained take on VNV's sound than some of their dancefloor-oriented output, built for close listening as much as movement.

This edition is pressed on standard black double vinyl, wrapped in an elaborate codebook-style cover where the band's name and the album title appear through a series of cut-out holes in the sleeve. With Destruct arriving as its other half later in the year, this is the first chapter of a two-album statement.
