When CBS aired A Charlie Brown Christmas in December 1965, network executives worried that a cartoon scored with cool, understated jazz would never connect with kids. They could not have been more wrong. Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack became one of the best-loved Christmas albums ever made, and for many people it is simply what the holidays sound like.
Guaraldi's piano trio plays with a lightness and swing that never talks down to its audience.
