Clueless - Original Soundtrack

Clueless arrived in 1995 and its soundtrack did something clever: instead of chasing radio hits, it built a snapshot of mid-nineties alternative rock and made it feel like the inside of Cher Horowitz's Beverly Hills bedroom.

The Muffs' snarling cover of "Kids in America" opens it, Counting Crows take on the Psychedelic Furs, and Radiohead contribute an acoustic "Fake Plastic Trees" that is still hard to find elsewhere. Coolio's "Rollin' with My Homies" is inseparable from the party scene, and Supergrass, the Beastie Boys, Luscious Jackson, and the Smoking Popes fill out one of the era's most reliably fun compilations.

Thirty years on, the film is a certified classic and the soundtrack works as a perfect period playlist.
