The Young Gods made their name tearing rock music apart with samplers, but Music For Artificial Clouds shows a very different side of the Swiss band. First released in 2004, it is an instrumental record built from electronic textures, hypnotic synths and slowly shifting ambient soundscapes, and until now it has never been issued on vinyl.
Recorded at the band's own TYG Studio, the album unfolds over twelve pieces that move between suspended, contemplative stretches and more restless, intense passages. Tracks like "Dew Point Five" and "Paucari" stretch past eight minutes and reward patient listening, the kind of record that works best played start to finish rather than dipped into.
Coming between the live archive Live Noumatrouff, 1997 and the studio album XXY, it remains one of the more overlooked chapters in a catalog that influenced everyone from industrial bands to electronic producers. For fans who know the band mostly for L'Eau Rouge or T.V. Sky, this is a revealing detour.
This first vinyl edition from Rustblade presents the remastered album across two LPs, limited to 499 copies.
