A high-fidelity fusion of Rock N’ Roll soul and analog warmth.
Hailing from the rock-rich streets of Boston, The Freight delivers an electrifying debut with Tales Of Maybe. Known for their "head-nodding" blend of Rock N’ Roll, Soul, and Blues-infused Jam, the band has spent years building a reputation as one of New England’s most formidable live acts. On this first full-length effort, they successfully capture that stage-born energy, offering a "wide variety of music and styles" that feel both familiar and refreshingly innovative.
From the 70s-rooted classic rock bite of "Opportunity" to the Allman Brothers-esque dual guitar aesthetics of "This Time," the album is a masterclass in organic songwriting. Adam Tiro’s soulful, Paul Rodgers-inflected vocals anchor the record, while tracks like "Good Kind of Crazy" (featuring Erin MacKenzie) dip into R&B and jazz-inflected grooves. Whether it’s the dreamy, Fender Rhodes-soaked haze of "Come So Far" or the gospel-tinged explosion of the closer "Gonna Choose Love," the band avoids "noodling" in favor of tight, melodic hooks and a "back-to-basics" rock spirit that is rarely heard in the modern era.
For the audiophiles, Tales Of Maybe is a true benchmark. Engineered to be as "open and uncompressed as possible," the record was transferred to analog tape by the legendary Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound. To ensure the highest quality playback, the vinyl was pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing in California—the same plant trusted by Mobile Fidelity (MoFi). The result is a dynamic, "dead-quiet" listening experience designed to be played exactly one way: LOUD.
