Thao Nguyen spent years pushing the edges of indie rock at the front of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. On Show Me, her sixth studio album, she turns inward, making a real-time document of rebuilding a life and learning to stay open to love and vulnerability.
Eleven emotionally charged songs pair raw storytelling with expansive, collaborative production. Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards, The Linda Lindas, Neko Case, and Adrian Quesada all contribute, and tracks like "Fossils," "Nguyen Nguyen Lose Lose," and "Jeans/Genes" move from wiry and rhythmic to tender without losing the thread.
The result is an intimate, shape-shifting record that treats love not as a risk to avoid but as something you practice, embody, and let change you.
