Originally released in 2005, the self-titled debut from Team Sleep is a sprawling, atmospheric departure from frontman Chino Moreno's work in Deftones. A collaborative project with childhood friend Todd Wilkinson and CrookOne, the album is a "modernized mood music" masterpiece, blending dream-pop, trip-hop, and post-rock textures. For nearly two decades, this record existed as a hidden gem of the mid-2000s, but this 2024/2025 expanded reissue marks its first-ever appearance on vinyl, newly remastered to emphasize its lush, hypnotic soundscapes.
Produced largely by Greg Wells with contributions from Ross Robinson and Terry Date, the album is famous for its ethereal guest features and the hit single "Ever (Foreign Flag)." This 2-LP black vinyl edition is the definitive version of the project, as it restores the album’s full dynamic range and expands the tracklist with two legendary "lost" outtakes. Fans have long traded low-quality bootlegs of these tracks, but they are presented here in high-fidelity for the first time: "Let's Go," featuring the haunting vocals of Mary Timony (Helium), and the jagged, experimental "Kool Aide" (alternatively known as "Kool Aid Party"), featuring Mike Patton of Faith No More.
The physical release is housed in a gatefold jacket and pressed on 180-gram opaque black vinyl. It serves as a beautiful artifact of a project that was never intended to be a traditional band, but instead became a "hushed, cinematic" sanctuary for its creators. From the driving intensity of "Blvd. Nights" to the delicate, acoustic beauty of "11/11," this expanded set is the ultimate way to experience one of the most unique records in Chino Moreno's storied career.
