Before the world had a name for French touch, Ludovic Navarre was already blending Chicago house with the smoke and swing of a Paris jazz club. Boulevard, released in 1995 under his St Germain alias, is the record that made that fusion sound inevitable.

The grooves are deep, patient, and unmistakably warm. "Deep in It" sets the tone with rolling house drums and muted horn stabs, "Street Scene (4 Shazz)" slips into loose jazz-hop, and "Sentimental Mood" and "What's New?" stretch out across long, hypnotic runs where live-sounding bass, Rhodes, and samples bleed into one another. "Dub Experience II" takes a detour through echo chambers before "Forget It" winds everything down.

Issued on Laurent Garnier's F Communications label, Boulevard became one of the defining records of the mid-nineties Paris scene and helped lay the groundwork for the downtempo and nu-jazz boom that followed. Navarre's later Tourist would go on to sell in the millions, but this is where the sound was born.

This 30th anniversary edition spreads the complete album across two navy blue LPs in a limited run. A timeless crate record for DJs and late-night listeners alike.
