The birth of post-industrialism and the blueprint for the modern cinematic score.
Originally released by Side Effects in 1986, Zamia Lehmanni is the third and final core album from SPK, marking Graeme Revell’s first truly solo foray. Standing at a crossroads between the jagged industrial chaos of Information Overload Unit and his future as a world-class Hollywood composer (The Crow, Sin City), Revell crafted an album that quite literally invented a new genre. Before this record, the "ubiquitous" style of dark, atmospheric, and orchestral-ambient music found in modern soundtracks simply did not exist.
Remastered by Martin Bowes (The Cage) and approved by Revell himself, this 180-gram vinyl edition is housed in a premium 350gsm gatefold sleeve featuring striking new artwork by Abby Helasdottir. The album includes the seminal track "In Flagrante Delicto"—presented here as originally intended—which served as the foundation for Revell’s AFI award-winning score for the 1989 film Dead Calm. To complete the experience, this release includes a digital download featuring the bonus track "The Doctrine Of Eternal Ice." Accompanied by new 2019 liner notes from Revell, Zamia Lehmanni is a haunting, "Byzantine" journey that remains an essential touchstone for anyone interested in the evolution of post-industrial soundscapes.
