Skinny Puppy’s groundbreaking debut Remission (1984) marked the arrival of a new force in electronic and industrial music. Blending new wave, techno, film noir atmospherics, and pioneering sampling techniques, the Canadian duo of cEvin Key and Nivek Ogre created a sound that was as dark and experimental as it was danceable.

Building on that momentum, the band released Bites in 1985—an even more refined and ominous collection that delivered their first underground hit, “Assimilate.” With these early albums, Skinny Puppy established the blueprint for industrial music’s future, earning a devoted international following along the way.
