Rob Zombie's eighth solo album arrived after a long stretch focused on film, and it is the record his fans had been hoping for. The Great Satan reunites him with guitarist Mike Riggs, who played on his solo debut Hellbilly Deluxe, and bassist Blasko, with longtime drummer Ginger Fish behind the kit, and that old chemistry is all over it.
From the opening "F.T.W. 84" the album barrels forward with meaty riffs, B-movie soundbites and electronic grime. Singles "Punks and Demons," whose video Zombie directed himself, "Heathen Days" and "(I'm a) Rock 'N' Roller" hit with a swagger that recalls the White Zombie era and The Sinister Urge, and the interludes give the whole thing the feel of a midnight horror double feature.
Critics widely hailed it as his heaviest and most focused work in many years, a true return to his Hellbilly roots rather than a nostalgia act.
This Indie Exclusive pressing comes on black and white marble vinyl.
