Burning Dub is a 1979 dub set from the Revolutionaries, the house band at Kingston's Channel One Studios and one of the defining rhythm sections of the roots era. Produced by Junior English and first issued on Burning Sounds, it puts Sly Dunbar's drums and Robbie Shakespeare's bass at the center of every track.
Around them is a deep bench of Jamaican session players, including Tommy McCook on horns, Ansel Collins on organ and Skully on percussion. The ten cuts are named for the tribes of Israel, from "Reuben" through "Benjamin," and the mixes are late-seventies Channel One through and through: heavy, spacious and built on rhythm first, with horns and keys drifting in and out of the echo.
This Burning Sounds reissue has been remastered from the 1979 original.
