By September 2019, Post Malone had already proven he could dominate streaming. What Hollywood's Bleeding proved was that he could hold a whole record together. It debuted at number one with 489,000 equivalent units and the biggest streaming week any album had posted that year, then kept returning to the top through the fall for five nonconsecutive weeks, the longest run of 2019.

The album's real trick is how little it cares about genre lines. "Circles" is a soft-focus, jangling pop song that went Diamond and topped the Hot 100 for three weeks, and it sits a few tracks away from "Take What You Want," a full-blown metal moment built around an Ozzy Osbourne vocal with Travis Scott dropping in over the top. In between there is the SZA duet "Staring at the Sun," "Goodbyes" with Young Thug, and guest turns from Halsey, Future, Meek Mill, DaBaby, and Lil Baby. "Sunflower," his Hot 100 chart-topper with Swae Lee from the Oscar-winning Into the Spider-Verse, is folded in as well.

It was also the record that turned the critical tide. Reviews were far warmer than for either of his first two albums, and the set went on to earn an Album of the Year nomination at the 2021 Grammys, a rare thing for an artist so often written off as a streaming-numbers story.

This double-LP edition is pressed on pink vinyl and housed in an embossed gatefold jacket via Republic Records.
