Orgone - Moonshadows [Coke Bottle Clear with Black Swirl]

Moonshadows is Orgone's love letter to yacht rock, sweater funk and late-night drives down the Pacific Coast Highway. The album takes its name and neon-and-moonlight mood from the Malibu bar where members of the band used to DJ, and it trades some of their usual grit for smooth, late-1970s gloss.

The Los Angeles group bring in a stable of singers and co-writers, including Adryon de León, Woolfy, Masauko Chipembere, Terin Ector and Jamie Allensworth, while keeping the heavy drums and deep grooves that define their sound. "Calling On You," "Loveback" and "Hit & Run" glide on silky vocals and lush keys, and "Dreamer" and "High And Low" lean into soft-focus disco and AOR territory without ever losing the funk underneath.

It is the ideal summer evening record, equally at home on a patio or a long drive home.
