Opeth - Morningrise

Following the groundbreaking debut Orchid, Opeth returned in 1996 with their second album, Morningrise, a record that saw the band "delving deeper" into their own unique sub-genre. Since forming in the Stockholm suburb of Bandhagen, the Swedes have "eclipsed convention," and Morningrise is perhaps their most defiant statement. Consisting of only five tracks—all exceeding the ten-minute mark—the album is an "intrinsically intense" journey through melancholic dual-guitar harmonies, soaring acoustic passages, and visceral black metal aesthetics.

This 2LP vinyl edition has received the "ultimate audiophile treatment." Cut at half-speed at Abbey Road Studios by the legendary Miles Showell, the audio has been painstakingly remastered by Jens Bogren under the direct supervision of Mikael Åkerfeldt. This process ensures that the "complex and ghostly" production of the original 1996 sessions is preserved with a wider dynamic range, allowing the "intricate bass work" of Johan De Farfalla and the "layered acoustic-to-electric" transitions to shine like never before.
