Olivia Rodrigo - Stupid Song [Translucent Pink 7"]

Every Olivia Rodrigo album has one song that fans latch onto harder than the rest. On her third, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, it is "Stupid Song." Released alongside the album in June 2026, it went to number one on the Billboard Global 200, reached number three on the Hot 100 and number two in the UK, and was widely picked out as the best thing on the record.

Written with longtime producer Dan Nigro, it is a song about infatuation tipping over into misery. Rodrigo starts as the awkward one at a party full of confident people, then spirals through imagined conversations and fiery images of attraction as her feelings slip further out of her control. She has cited Annie Ernaux's novel Simple Passion as an inspiration, and the arrangement builds with the same slow, helpless momentum, closer to a show tune than a standard pop single.

The flip side is the real draw for collectors: "Take 2 on Piano," a stripped-back performance that leaves nothing between the listener and the vocal.

This 7-inch single plays at 45 RPM and is pressed on translucent pink vinyl, with the album version on side A and the piano take on side B.
