Nurse With Wound - Rock'n'Roll Station Redux Extraction [Black/Orange]

Rock'n'Roll Station is one of the strangest records in a catalogue built entirely out of strange records. Steven Stapleton released it in 1994, dedicated it to the French trumpeter and provocateur Jacques Berrocal, and built it around loops, spoken fragments and a groove that Nurse With Wound had never previously allowed themselves. This 2026 LP extracts four remixes from the recent five-CD box set expansion.

The selections are handled by people who understand the source material. Matthew Waldron of irr. app. (ext.) takes the title track apart into what is billed as the Gros Module Version. Andrew Liles, Stapleton's longtime collaborator, contributes a Strange Wax mix of the same piece. Diarmuid MacDiarmada reworks "Finsbury Park, May 8th, 1.35pm," and Jean-Jacques Birgé handles "A Silhouette And A Thumbtack." Colin Potter mastered, which is exactly who should have.

This is not an entry point to Nurse With Wound, and it does not pretend to be. It is a companion piece for people already inside the world, and on those terms it is superb: four long, patient reconstructions that treat the original as raw material rather than a text to be respected.
